He’s ‘Standing’ Up for Our Privacy Rights Until His Legs Give Out (short video & article)

“There comes a time in the history of nations when fear and complacency allow power to accumulate and liberty and privacy to suffer,” said presidential candidate Rand Paul. He went on, “that time is now, and I will not let the Patriot Act, the most unpatriotic of acts, go unchallenged.”

As I write this, Senator Rand Paul has taken to the Senate floor today in a filibuster to protest the renewal of the Patriot Act.  The Patriot Act is a Bush administration-era law that enables government surveillance on everyday Americans. He wants the government to “stop spying on innocent Americans” in the name of “safety.”

I personally support candidate Rand Paul because of his desire for more constitutional freedoms to be exercised by our government. That’s a rare thing for a politician. Most politicians say they support the Constitution, then they just turn around and kick it like a wounded dog.

More freedom for Americans means more limitations on our government. Which is good. Because the other way around, more freedom for government, just puts American citizens in tighter and tighter chains with the government holding the leash. Not to mention more poverty and less prosperity for citizens is always the result when a government has too much power.

Paul’s campaign has told supporters that he will “not yield one inch in this fight so long as my legs can stand,” regarding the filibuster.

The Kentucky Republican argues that the programs authorized by the Patriot Act (which was put into law in 2001) illegally restricts Americans’ rights and grants overly broad powers to the National Security Agency.

Senator Paul says:

“Today, our Fourth Amendment which protects Americans from government search and seizure unless there is probable cause of a crime is under assault like never before.”

This country fought a revolution over issues like generalized warrants, where soldiers would go from house to house, searching anything they liked.”

“This is a defining moment for our country.”

“Our elected officials are NOT above the law and Congress MUST reassert our Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure.” Darn right.

What we're about

THE FREEDOM
FRIEND's Mission

I use the measuring stick of freedom to measure if policies, laws, issues or morality are right and fair for everyone. Try it. If you believe in something, ask yourself “Is it fair and equal to everyone? Or just to some groups?”

Our Founding Fathers created a document unlike any other in history. The United States Constitution. It gave American citizens — ALL citizens — protection of their freedoms and natural rights by limiting the power of the government.

In all of human history, GOVERNMENTS have always oppressed the masses. Not companies. Not corporations. But tyrants. Dictators. Monarchs. Autocrats. Royal families. Governments. The people in charge of our laws, money creation, and military.

My goal is to help people recognize truths, lies, and hidden agendas, by using the measurements of morality and universal freedom for everyone to make better life decisions for a more free life.
